Rooker Wins 2017 C Spire Ferriss Trophy

Mississippi State’s leading offensive player, outfielder/firstbaseman Brent Rooker has been named the winner of the 2017 C Spire Ferriss Trophy.  The trophy is presented annually to the most outstanding college baseball player in Mississippi as chosen by a combination of the state’s baseball coaches, professional baseball scouts that cover the state and a fan vote sponsored by C Spire. C Spire Ferriss Trophy Finalists Announced

The five finalists for the 2017 C Spire Ferriss Trophy were announced this morning. The C Spire Ferriss Trophy goes to the Most Outstanding college baseball player in the state each year. The finalists include three University of Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles, a Mississippi State Bulldog and one Statesman from Delta State. Don Kessinger to speak at 2017 C Spire Ferriss Trophy presentation

Former major leaguer Don Kessinger, a smooth-fielding All-Star shortstop for the Chicago Cubs, will be the keynote speaker at the May 22 Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum presentation of the 2017 C Spire Ferriss Trophy, which annually honors the state’s top college baseball player.
