• Head tennis coach at USM, 1961-87.

• His teams won 407 matches, lost 179, tied 2.

 

Athletic trainer

• USM trainer for all sports, 1954-94.

• Senior Bowl trainer, 25 years.

• Trainer for several U.S. Olympic teams.

• Inducted into USM Sports Hall of Fame, 1986.

• Inducted into four additional trainers halls of fame.

• USM training room named Doc Harrington Training Room, 2008.

 

Did You Know?

Doc achieved the rank of Colonel in the U.S. Army. He has lectured in training clinics all over the U.S., and in Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, and Russia. Doc started the trainer certification program at Southern Miss. His brother Mickey was a basketball and baseball standout at USM.
