• Lettered in football, baseball, basketball, and track

Mississippi State (!951-1954)

• Selected 1st team All America by FWAA and Look magazine

• Named 1st team All SEC by AP, 2nd team UPI

• Selected 1st team GTE Academic All America team

• Selected to Academic All SEC team

• Co-captain of team

• Birmingham QB Club Most Valuable Lineman

• Played in two college All Star games: 1954 Blue-Gray game in Montgomery, AL, and 1955 Senior Bowl in Mobile, AL

• Selected in 12th round of 1954 NFL Draft by San Francisco 49ers

 

Professional Career

• Assistant football coach and head track coach at Lee High School, Columbus, MS under MSHOF member and MSU alum Harper Davis (1955-1956)

• Head football coach at Lee High School, Columbus, MS (1956-1960)

• Assistant football coach and head track coach at Gardiner High School, Laurel, MS (1960-1061)

• Assistant football coach and head track coach at R.H. Watkins High School, Laurel, MS (1961-1965)

• Assistant principal and Director of Guidance for Laurel City Schools at R.H. Watkins High School, Laurel, MS (1965-1974)
