• All-SEC (’34, ‘35)

• All-American (’35)

• Played on the National Champion Alabama team that defeated Stanford 29-13 in the Rose Bowl (’35)

• Played in the All-Star game against the Detroit Lions (’35)

 

Pro Football Career

Washington Redskins (1936-1938)

• Scored all of the Redskins’ points in a 13-3 win over the Giants (‘37)

 

Did You Know?

Smith, who played his high school football at Greenwood and then Columbus, was the second player to be drafted into professional football behind Jay Berwanger in the first draft.
