• Age 50 Magnolia Mini-Marathon Winner, Natchez Trace (’73)

• Defeated 5 Marine reservists to win Meridian’s Queen City 10 Mile Run (’74)

• Ran first marathon at Rice Festival Marathon in Crowley, LA (’74)

• Missed qualifying for Boston Marathon by 15 minutes at New Orleans Mardi Gras Marathon (’74)

• Southern AAU Distance Runner of the Year (’75)

• President of the Mississippi Track Club (1980-1998)

•Mississippi Track Club Winter Run renamed the “Bob Coleman 10k Run” (’03)

 

Did You Know?

Bob ignored his cardiologist’s advice, began running at age 44 and outlived his doctor by 20 years. During his lengthy presidency of the Mississippi Track Club, the MTC went from 6 members to more than 1,000 with more than 40 races per year. IHe was the club’s chief encourager, exhorting runners through his bullhorn as they approached the finish.
