Softball coaches clinic slated for HoF
Jackson State’s Rick Fremin, one of the brightest young coaches in women’s collegiate softball, will conduct a softball coaches clinic at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame in Jackson on Thursday, Dec. 20.
The cost is $25 per person and coaches at all levels of fastpitch softball are invited. The clinic will be limited to the first 125 to register.
In Fremin’s two seasons, JSU has broke or set a total of (35) national or school records, as well finished with a 3.0 team GPA and a (26-7) conference record. The Tigers have played for the SWAC Championship both seasons under Fremin’s direction. Before JSU, Fremin coached highly successful, record-breaking teams at Belhaven University.
Joining Fremin as instructors will be William Carey head coach Wendy Hogue and Itawamba Community College coach Andy Kirk.
“We are putting on this event to promote the sport within the state of Mississippi and the southern region to benefit both players and coaches at all levels,” Fremin says. “I have been asked through the years to have such an event and it has been my heart do so, because when I was kid I remember former Tulane Baseball coach Joe Brockoff, who came to the city gym in my home town to talk baseball. I remember getting so much from that event. Here we are 20 years later and now I have the opportunity to give back to the game, by providing information to coaches and players.”
The clinic is scheduled for 2 p.m.-7:15 p.m.
