The five finalists for the 2017 C Spire Ferriss Trophy were announced this morning. The C Spire Ferriss Trophy goes to the Most Outstanding college baseball player in the state each year. The finalists include three University of Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles, a Mississippi State Bulldog and one Statesman from Delta State. Don Kessinger to speak at 2017 C Spire Ferriss Trophy presentation

Former major leaguer Don Kessinger, a smooth-fielding All-Star shortstop for the Chicago Cubs, will be the keynote speaker at the May 22 Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum presentation of the 2017 C Spire Ferriss Trophy, which annually honors the state’s top college baseball player. World Series Viewing Party on October 25th

51st Induction Weekend set August 2-3

The 51st annual BanCorpSouth Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame Induction Weekend is slated for August 2-3, highlighted by the induction banquet at the Jackson Hilton on Friday night, August 2, and also including activities at the Hall of Fame Museum on Saturday. The Farm Bureau Watermelon Classic is a great way to start off your July 4 holiday weekend.  A family tradition for many, the 5K run/walk will start at 7:30 a.m. at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum. A one mile fun run (for all ages) is also offered followed by a tot trot (for ages 3-and-under). Watermelon, fruits and beverages will be provided after the race.
