Wilson Furr retrieves a perfect, 223-yard 5-iron shot from the cup at the 10th hole at CCJ.

The Country Club of Jackson has a new club champion: Wilson Furr, who will turn 16 Tuesday.
Furr, who reached the round of 32 at last year’s USGA Junior Championship, shot rounds of 72, 70 and 67 for a 54-hole total of 7-under-par 209 to win the club title by six shots.
During Sunday’s final round, he aced the difficult 223-yard, par-3 10th hole using a 5-iron.
Furr’s golfing resume continues to grow. He won the Future Masters at age 14. Competing against older golfers, he finished 10th in the prestigious Western Junior just outside of Chicago recently.
His next big competition will be in the 2014 USGA Junior Championship at Carlton Woods, near Houston, July 21-26.
Last year, 10-time State Am Champion and Mississippi Sports Hall of Famer Mike Taylor had this to say about Furr: “Wilson Furr is the best junior golfer I’ve ever seen. I’m not talking about best 14-year-old. I’m talking best junior — period. There are no limits to how good he can be.”
