Mark it down: March 27, Women in Sports

The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame’s annual Women in Sports Day, presented by BlueCross BlueShield of Mississippi, is set for March 27 at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum.

Peggie Gillom-Granderson


Among those taking part:
• Peggie Gillom-Granderson, namesake of the Gillom Trophy, which goes annually to the most outstanding women’s college basketball player in Mississippi. Gillom-Granderson is one of Mississippi’s all-time basketball greats, a 1997 inductee into the MSHOF and currently women’s chaplain of the Ole Miss chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Taryn Foshee


• Taryn Foshee, former high school basketball standout at Hillcrest Christian School, who went on to become Miss Mississippi, third runner-up to Miss America and is now a Nashville-based speaker, blogger and sports radio talk show host and founder of Women Can Talk Sports.com.
• Victoria Vivians, of Scott Central High, who recently set the all-time Mississippi high school basketball scoring record.
The Women in Sports Day is an opportunity for young girls to interact with women in sports who have had successful careers. Coaches and teachers are encouraged to bring your middle school and high school girls teams and classes to this exciting, educational event. Admission is $3 per student. Victoria Vivians presents the ball she used to to break the Mississippi high school scoring record to the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Musuem.
