Register for Farm Bureau Watermelon Run

Posted on: June 29,2013

This was the start of the record-setting 2012 Farm Bureau Watermelon Classic.

The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum’s Farm Bureau 5K Watermelon Classic, one of the state’s most popular road races, will celebrate its 30th anniversary on Thursday, July 4.
“We had a record entry of nearly 1,800 runners and walkers  last year,” race director Margaret White said. “We’re hoping for even more to celebrate 30 years.”
The Farm Bureau Watermelon Run has been designated as the state’s five-kilometer (5K) state championship, ensuring a competitive field. Nevertheless, as always, the event is open to walkers, joggers as well as serious runners. The family-friendly race begins and ends at your Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame Museum where the state’s sports legends live forever.
The race begins at 7:30 a.m. and there is no race day registration. You can register on-line here through midnight Tuesday. You can register in person at the museum through Wednesday at 5 p.m.
The 5K event is followed by a one-mile wellness run for all ages and a free “tot trot” for ages 3 and under. In all, more than 140 awards will be given.
There will be three water stations along a race course that is described by competitive runners as “only slightly hilly.” At race’s end, entrants will be treated to sliced watermelon and other fruits and beverages, as well as music.
In keeping with the Farm Bureau Watermelon Classic’s emphasis on family fun, there is also an award given for best costume, which is voted on by the runners and walkers themselves. One caviat: To win, you must complete the race in costume. (Running in costume, of course, is optional, particularly on July 4.)
All proceeds from the Classic go to the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum, which celebrates its 17th birthday on July 4, having never received any tax money for operating expenses from any level of government.

You really make it seem really easy with your presentation but
I to find this matter to be really one thing which I think I might by no
means understand. It kind of feels too complex and very wide for me.
I am taking a look ahead to your subsequent post, I will
try to get the hang of it!
