Paddy Harrington heading to Jackson!

Posted on: October 02,2014

With just over a month left before the start of the Sanderson Farms Championship, 2014 European Ryder Cup Team Vice Captain Padraig Harrington highlights the list of players with Ryder Cup experience making early commitments to the tournament.

Harrington commits to play on the heels of the European Team’s 16½ to 11½ victory in the Ryder Cup last week.  He is a three-time Major winner and is making his first appearance at the Sanderson Farms Championship.  Harrington’s Major victories include the 2007 and 2008 Open Championship and the 2008 PGA Championship.  He has five PGA TOUR wins and 16 International victories.

Joining Harrington are former U.S. Ryder Cup Team members J.J. Henry (2006) and Jeff Overton (2010) and 2007 Past Champion Chad Campbell (2004, 2006, 2008).  Campbell has four career victories.

“We are excited about the early commitments to the tournament,” said Tournament Director Steve Jent. “Our position at the beginning of the PGA TOUR season means that the field will be stronger than ever with many players looking to get an early jump on the FedExCup points competition.”

The aforementioned PGA TOUR Professionals join Defending Champion Woody Austin as early commitments to the field. Austin was in Jackson last week for the tournament’s annual Media Day activities.

The 47th Sanderson Farms Championship is set for November 3 – 9, 2014 at The Country Club of Jackson in Jackson, Mississippi.
