C Spire Howell/Gillom awards: Who you got?

No shortage of candidates exists for either the C Spire Howell and Gillom Trophies, which will be presented at a luncheon March 11 at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum. What follows is a watch list of leading candidates for both awards. Readers should feel free to add opinions of these or other candidates in comments at the end of this post:
In this case, men and leading candidates for the C Spire Howell Trophy go first, followed by the women (both in alphabetical order):
Dwayne Davis, senior guard, USM: On a balanced 21-7 team that has six players averaging eight points per game or better, senior Dwayne Davis has become the Southern Miss Golden Eagles go-to guy as the season has moved toward the end of February. Davis leads the team in scoring with 14.4 per game (15.5 in conference games). More impressively, Davis has shot 48 per cent from the field, 39 per cent from beyond the 3-point line and 80 percent from the free throw line. All this he has done in 28 minutes per game. Against nationally ranked Memphis, he has totaled 53 points in two games
Marshall Henderson, junior guard, Ole Miss: Leads the SEC in scoring with 19.7 points per game for the 20-7 Rebels. Shooting 38.6 percent from the floor, 37 percent from behind the arc and 88 percent from the FT line. Had a career-high 32 points against Tennessee, including 24 in the second half. Tied the school record for 3-pointers, hitting 8 or 12 against Auburn in a 28-point effort. Ranks fourth in the nation in 3-pointers made.
Murphy Holloway, senior forward, Ole Miss: In his final season, Holloway has become the all-time leading Ole Miss rebounder with 998. Holloway is the SEC’s active leader in rebounds and double-doubles, ranks second in steals and third in points. He ranks second in the SEC in rebounding with a 9.5 per game average. Holloway will become only the 23rd player in SEC history to score at least 1,250 points and pull down 1,000 rebounds in their career. He is scoring 14.5 points per game shooting 52.9 percent from the floor.
Terry Leake, senior forward, Delta State: Leads the Statesmen in scoring and rebounding with 18 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. Ranks second in the Gulf South Conference in scoring and third in rebounding for the 9-15 Statesmen.
Christian Williams, senior guard, Jackson State: Averages 13.1 points per game with 38 assists and 41 steals. Scored a career-high 44 points in a recent victory over Mississippi Valley State. That was a single-game high for a SWAC player this season.
C-Spire Gillom Trophy candidates
Martha Alwal, sophomore center, Mississippi State: Leads State in scoring (12.3), rebounding (9.7), and blocked shots 2.5. She is second in the SEC in both rebounding and blocked shots and is fourth in free throw percentage at 78.3 percent. Leads the SEC in double-doubles with 14.
Jamierra Faulkner, junior guard, USM: Leads USM in scoring with an 18.6 average and in assists with 7.3 a game. That ranks her first in Conference USA by more than two assists per game and also second in the league in scoring. She also leads Conference USA with 3.4 steals per game. Accounts for approximately 33 of USM’s 62 points per game.
Tiffany Kellum, senior forward, Jackson State: Leads the Lady Tigers with 12.8 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.
Valencia McFarland, junior point guard, Ole Miss: Leads her team and is in the top 5 in the SEC in assists, steals, minutes played and assist to turnover ratio. Averages 5.3 assists and 2.6 steals per game and is second on team with 11.6 points per game.
Seneca Walton, sophomore center, Delta State: Leads the Lady Statesmen in scoring (13.5), rebounding 8.0 and blocked shots (44, total). Shoots 51 percent from the field and 76 percent from the free throw line.
