Marcel Newson, C Spire Conerly Trophy finalist, scores for the Choctaws.

Coldwater native Marcel Newson, a junior wide receiver, is Mississippi College’s nominee for the 2015 C Spire Conerly Trophy.
Newson led the Choctaws with 35 pass receptions for 591 yards, eight touchdowns and 17 yards per catch.
Newson, a transfer from Northwest Community College, also has returned two punts for 43 yards and returned 19 kickoffs for 20 yards per return.
Newson holds the Northwest CC single season and career records for kickoff return yardage.
Mississippi’s 10 football playing senior colleges all nominate a finalist for the C Spire Conerly Trophy. Newson is the second 2015 nominee, following Mississippi State’s Dak Prescott. Schools have until Nov. 23 to nominate a finalist for the award.
