Millsaps College has hired Josh Brooks to serve as the new director of athletics. Brooks is joining the Majors from his position as
associate athletic director at the University of Georgia, where he has worked since 2008. Brooks is expected to begin his new role on July 7. Tim Wise, who has held joint duties as head coach for men’s basketball and athletic director, will return his focus solely to basketball.
“This is an exciting hire for Millsaps, and we look forward to working with Josh in the years to come,” said Dr. Robert W.
Pearigen, president of Millsaps. “He brings tremendous energy to this position, in addition to a wealth of experience and an exciting vision for Millsaps athletics.”
Prior to his time at the University of Georgia, Brooks, 34, also worked at the University of Louisiana-Monroe as a graduate assistant coach and director of football operations. Brooks began his career as a student manager at LSU. He will bring all of this experience to a strong athletics program at Millsaps.
“I believe that success is a science,” said Brooks. “If you have the right conditions, success will follow. I know that Millsaps has the right conditions for success, and I’m excited about the opportunity to help lead the coaches and scholar-athletes to a new level. It’s going to be a new era for Millsaps athletics.”
Brooks earned his B.S. degree in kinesiology at LSU and is completing his masters of education in sport management at the University of Georgia.
