Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame & Museum to Celebrate 30th Anniversary on April 29

The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame & Museum will mark a historic milestone on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, celebrating 30 years since opening its doors and the completion of a $4 million renovation—the most significant transformation in the museum’s history.

The anniversary celebration, held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., will bring together Hall of Fame inductees, supporters, and the community for an evening honoring Mississippi’s rich sports legacy while unveiling a new era for the museum.

Since opening on July 4, 1996, the museum has preserved and shared the stories of the state’s greatest athletes, coaches, and contributors—welcoming generations of visitors and showcasing the power of sport to inspire. Now, with newly enhanced exhibits, updated spaces, and interactive experiences, the museum is stepping confidently into its next chapter.

“This is a moment to celebrate where we’ve been and where we’re going,” said Executive Director Andrea Patterson. “For 30 years, this museum has told the stories of Mississippi legends who have made an impact far beyond our state. With these renovations, we are ensuring those stories continue to inspire the next generation.”

The evening will feature appearances from a number of Hall of Fame inductees, along with the opportunity for guests to explore the newly renovated museum and celebrate alongside fellow supporters of Mississippi athletics.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame & Museum relies on community support to continue its mission to preserve, protect, and promote Mississippi’s rich sports heritage.
