Posted on: November 10,2015
Mississippi State’s Dak Prescott, the 2014 C Spire Conerly Trophy winner, is the first player nominated for the 2015 Conerly, which will be awarded Dec. 1 at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum.
The C Spire Conerly goes annually to Mississippi’s most outstanding college football player. The state’s 10 four-year football-playing schools have until Nov. 23 to nominate a finalist for the award.
Prescott, a Haughton, La., native, has accounted for 21 total touchdowns and 2,419 yards of total offense in his first eight starts of 2015 (14 passing, 7 rushing). Prescott is 173-of-260 through the air for 2,048 passing yards and just one turnover. On the ground, he has rushed 72 times for a team-high 371 yards and no turnovers. He is a finalist for several national awards.
This year will mark the 20-year anniversary of the C Spire Conerly Trophy. There has only been one two-time winner: Eli Manning of Ole Miss won in 2001 and 2003.
The Dec. 1 awards program will include a reception at 5:30 p.m. and a 6:30 p.m. banquet. Tickets, $100 each, are available by calling the MSHOF at 601 982-8264 or Click Here for Order Form. Capacity for the event is approximately 200, and the event has become an annual sellout.
