Sanderson Farms tournament moving to CCJ

The 2014 Sanderson Farms Championship will move to the Country Club of Jackson, tournament officials have announced.
The move from Annandale in Madison, the tournament’s 20-year home, to the northeast Jackson club was made to enhance the tournament’s ability to raise money for Friends of Children’s Hospital, tournament officials announced.
The move requires approval from the PGA TOUR Policy Board, expected to come April 29, officials said.
Both Century Club Charities, the group that operates the tournament to raise money for charity, and Sanderson Farms, the title sponsor, support the move. Said Joe Sanderson, CEO of Sanderson Farms “As title sponsor, Sanderson Farms supports Centruy Club Charities’ decision to move the tournament from Annandale Golf Club to the Country Club of Jackson. Our support for the decision is based solely on the fact that this will allow the tournament to raise more money for Friends of Children’s Hospital, the tournament’s main beneficiary.
“Sanderson Farms’ recent decision to commit to a three-year sponsorship of this event wasn’t based on supporting a golf tournaent. Our decision was based on how to raise not only money, but to raise awareness for Friends of Children’s Hospital, the tournament’s main beneficiary. So obviously, we support any decision that accomplishes that goal.”
Both Sanderson and Century Club officials thanked Annandale for hosting the tournament for 20 years. CCJ will become the tournament’s third venue in its 46-run as Mississippi’s only tournament on the PGA Tour. From 1968 until 1993, the tournament, which began as the Magnolia Classic, was played at the Hattiesburg Country Club.
