Bo Wallace, the Ole Miss sophomore quarterback, who led the Rebels to a surprising 6-6 season and bowl eligibility, Tuesday night received the C Spire Conerly Trophy at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum.
Wallace personally accounted for 28 touchdowns, including five in the Rebels’ season-ending 41-24 victory over Mississippi State. He becomes the first Ole Miss player to win the C Spire Conerly Trophy since linebacker Patrick Willis in 2006.
Wallace was one of five finalists chosen by a panel of 50 media members from around the state. Other finalists included Mississippi State cornerback Johnthan Banks, Southern Miss defensive end Jamie Collins, Jackson State wide receiver Rico Richardson and Delta State offensive tackle Kendall Hunter.

The Pulaski, Tenn,. native threw for 2,843 yards in helping Hugh Freeze’s first Ole Miss team surprise the experts and become bowl eligible. Wallace threw for 19 touchdowns, ran for eight and caught a pass for still another.
The five other nominees for the C Spire Wireless Conerly Trophy included Alcorn State offensive tackle Cornelius Brown, Belhaven cornerback Isiah Wiley, Millsaps quarterback Garrett Pinciotti, Mississippi College defensive back Keith Villafranco and Mississippi Valley State defensive tackle Robert Simpson.
This marked the 17th presentation of the C Spire Conerly Trophy, which goes annually to Mississippi’s most outstanding college football players and honors College Football Hall of Famer Charlie Conerly.

Just noticed Wallace won this award. Banks made All-America….All Sec as well….The Connerly Trophy just went lame duck this year. Looking forward to next year. Go Blue Bengals!
