Coolidge gave serious thought to following fellow Indianola, MS product Sam Lacey to New Mexico State. During Ball’s senior year in high school, Lacey helped the Aggies to a third place national finish and signed a big NBA contract. Ball spent the summer after high school at New Mexico State but came back in late summer to sign his national letter of intent with Ole Miss.
