Raised by his aunt and uncle followng his mother’s death when he was six, Hugh learned self sufficiency and is a proficient cook who can sew.
He was hotly recruited by many colleges at a time when high school players could sign numerous conference letters of intent. Hugh signed an SEC letter with Mississippi State but inked his national letter of intent with Pitt where he was recruited by Biloxi, MS native and future MSU coach Jackie Sherrill.
Hugh is a member of Legends of the Decades, which assists communities across the nation in upgrading their recreational facilities.
