Vic’s school record 238 yards rushing against Memphis State in 1965 was finally broken on the 17th anniversary of its setting: September 25, 1982 when Sam Dejarnette ran for 304 yards against Florida State. Reggie Collier was the only USM quarterback to post more 100-yard rushing games than Vic Purvis.
