Buster Poole was the first of five Pooles to play end for Ole Miss. After him came brothers Ray (’41-’42, ‘46) and Barney (’42, ‘46-’47), cousin Jackie (’48-’49), son Jim Jr. (’69-’71), and nephew Ray Jr. (’76), giving the Rebels 15 years of Pooles at end. But the family excelled at other positions, too. There was cousin Phillip, a guard (’46-’48), cousin Oliver, a tackle (’46), and nephew Paige Cothren, an All-America fullback (’54-’56).
